100 Inspirational Stories from Africa

As part of the celebrations of the launch of the Inspire Africa Foundation, Inspire Africa Productions planned to publish a collection of 100 inspirational stories from Africa and about Africans, to be made available for sale in book stores worldwide. The funds raised from the book sales will be channeled into the Make a Difference Africa campaign to inspire and support the African child.

The African continent is need of platforms and effective media through which untold stories of success and achievement can be disseminated and heard. This will encourage us as a continent; motivate us into positive action; educate, as well as inform and guide our decision making.

The publication of these stories will also enable us to celebrate our successes and, most importantly, make us proud of our heritage individually and collectively. It is now time to portray the Africa never seen by most of the world and our joint responsibility as Africans to showcase our victories, our achievements, our successes and even our challenges (in its positive light).

The Inspire Foundation – through the Make a Difference Africa Campaign – calls upon Africans both from within the continent and in Diaspora to participate by forwarding their inspiring stories to us by direct mail and through our website based on the following criteria:

  • Are you an inspiration to others? If yes, how?
  • Has someone inspired you? If yes, who and how?
  • Do you know someone that has achieved against the odds? If yes, who and how?
  • Do you know of an ordinary person doing extraordinary things? If yes, who and how?
  • Do you have a story to share that will enable us to celebrate and reward success? If yes, what is your story?

A distinguished panel that will adhere to strict guidelines and criteria will assess submissions to select appropriate stories that will included in the publication of a collection of 100 inspirational stories from Africa, or their suitability as guests on Moments with Mo, Africa's biggest talk show aired to a pan African audience. Participants are invited to tell their story in approximately 3000 words to be by email to inspirationalstoriesafrica@momentswithmo.tv.

About Publishing a Collection of Children Books with African Themes
Oral tradition in Africa is as old as the continent itself. For centuries, African stories have been told and retold to generations and these stories now form a part of our everyday beliefs and lessons on morality and ethics. However, they still remain mostly as oral traditions and if these stories are not documented for posterity's sake, they will fade away.
What then will we leave for our children?
This is why the ‘make a difference’ campaign team is working on recording and publishing a collection of children's books with African themes so that our children and others around the world will have the opportunity to share in these African folktales.

As accustomed as our children are to western-style fairy tales since those are the bedtime story books that are available; there is a real need for them to hear our own folklores that are so rich in moral and practical lessons applicable to every aspect of life. Our mantra at Inspire Africa is that Africa has so much to offer the world and this special collection of children's books will be available for sale throughout the world. Not only will these books be entertaining, but also very educative and will help our children understand the principles guiding the world in which they live.

The funds raised through the sale of these books will be used to inspire/support African children. Our earnest appeal goes to everybody –both Africans and non Africans – to support us by purchasing these books which will go a long way in helping us to realize our ultimate goal.
